Any of you gone up Israel Canyon to the top of Lake Mountain to the towers and back down to Soldiers Pass? The snow might be too deep now.

I did it 2 weeks ago in a stock XJ. Israel Canyon might be a show stopper with rocky road being too deep with snow, but again the south way via Soldiers Pass to the towers should be passable for most XJ’s.

For the ppl who do not know where Soldiers Pass or Israel Canyon is, go south on Utah 68 (Redwood Rd), in Saratoga Springs, just pass the golf course, a very small brown sign showing the turn off in a housing development, more or less follow the streets uphill till it turns into dirt, about 4-5 miles to the top. Once on top, it is about 12-15 miles down to Utah 68. Making the correct turns once down the mountain and back to Utah 68 maybe an interesting time with all of the trails in that area, they are just made for exploring though. Soldiers Pass is a little harder to spot on Utah 68, not sure of the mile marker near it, but it might be 12 or 13. Not many roads near it that head west. Google it, it is marked on the map.

Another great ride if the snow is not too deep is Broad Canyon road to Black Rock canyon, west/south west of Allen ranch which is near Little Moab. Scanton ghost town is just north of Black Rock Canyon on the west side. Google is your friend again here.

Yet another one is finding the back way to Eureka, not the entire road from Allen’s ranch but before the last pass (Homensville Pass), head west and up and over (Chiulos Canyon) to the west side of Eureka, that should still be passable now in the snow. Again with this way, lots of offerings to take the wrong turn, its called Xplorering!

Really the entire area behind Lake mountain and north of Eureka offers lots of trails to explore on, more that can be covered in a weekend or three. Just got to know where they are and for the most part, not crowded at all. As a matter of fact, break down out there, might be a long time before someone locates you an yet so near to home.

Ordered my 4.5" Rusty's coils and 6 degree shims today! It was a Xmas present "from my wife".

Now I can get rid of those rock hard 3" Skyjackers and 2" punks I have.

P.S. Anyone want to buy some 3" coils?? lol.
