I'm confirmed for my virgin trip to moab this weekend. Going with some local friends that arent really 4weellers but there will be quads, good eats, beer and fun. I'm a little nervous about wheeling and overheating in the high desert temps. Thinking of pulling my t-stat for the trip. Since i wont be crawling anything crazy by myself (or anything that a quad cant follow) can you guys recommend any trails that arent too agressive. I know what your thinking........driving 4 hrs to moab and not crawling ???? Well im from chicago and still learning and dont want to trash my daily driver without some of you guys out to spot.

First off, I wouldn't pull your T-stat, It can cause over heating as the coolant doesn't sit in the radiator long enough to cool, which keeps the coolant hot and makes it over heat.... are you having over heating issues?

I would recommend Hells revenge and fins if your trying some beginner stuff and possibly one vehicle... as they are pretty basic and if there is anything to worry about it can be bypassed... but would always recommend another vehicle!

Thanks for the trail info. Im not overheating while cruising highway. When i run trails by the jordanelle resevior i end up blasting my heat so i wont go above the straight up or 210 on the gauge. I dont want to be blasting heat in 90 degree weather down there. By the way..both fans are working.

it's ok to go over 210 while wheelin, mine used to run at 220 while crawlin down there and ran 240 while playing in the dunes. i know it sounds hot but my fans were working and never had an issue. i even ran the AC most of the time LOL

Mine runs 220 sitting at lights after getting off the freeway when its warmer then 80* out side. not saying that isn't hot, but 4.0's run hot. I just run windows down and a/c off wheeling. anything past 220 makes me nervous though... but I guess my head is already cracked.. whats to worry about! bring on the heat! lol

Mine runs the same but when it gets to 220/240 either it shuts off and won't start for an hour or I will shut it off and it won't start until it cools off does yours act this way?
