Ok but if a 4runner can do it, and there's doubts about a stock xj doing it, then that's a insult to the xj

What about for the front? And I noticed yesterday that your leafs are sagging a bit so Id suggest either that shackle drop or an add a leaf at the least in order to level things out. The add a leaf would be the better of the two, the best would be to replace the leaf packs entirely. I found a deal on a pair of crown heavy duty leaf packs on ebay, they are actually about 1in over stock. I replaced my front coils with crowns heavy duty ones and they also increased the ride height a bit which leveled things out since the rear end was noticably higher than the front. Your cheapest route to a small lift would be an add a leaf in the rear and a coil spacer up front. Wiggles add a leafs might work for you, if your below stock height in the rear from sagging you could probably gain a solid 1-2in over stock height. You wont be 100% sure without test fitting though.
edit: you have the extended shackles in the rear currently?

I have 2" drop shackle to install in rear and may do wiggles all for 3" lift without the sag.
Got 2" coil spacer for the front that needs to be installed then eventually ill just get new coil springs for front.
