anyone mechanically familiar with internal engine work in Indy on the Northside?!?! i found a local xj for sale that needs some engine work (but exact repairs are unknown). it fires, but 'knocks and doesnt run consistently'--current owner. I want to go check it out but would like a second option from someone more experienced (would be my first cherokee...well kinda, long story) and if it sounds serious/not worth it.
anyone?!
if i had a shop look at it/do the repairs, what local shops are recommended?! I live in fishers, so anything 'on the north side' would be fine with me. what could i expect to fork out for them to 'inspect the problem'?? would you??

"always been dealer fixed. lift kit and tires at 4 wheel parts. engine cleaning, ignition coils, u joints, and starter done at meinike. jeep dealer did tie rod, sears did brakes, new radiator 2 months ago at meineke along with ac compressor and recharge and new belt.
also plexiglass/glass hybrid windsheild at rockstar auto (itll never crack or scratch and it is wiper safe), polk speakers done by rockstar audio, he did the headunit and subwoofer and additional exterior lights but all inspected and confirmed by 4 wheel parts guy."
said he has a guy with a possible truck for trade coming monday to check it out and will let me know if it falls through. may also be interested in my car in trade which would be awesome.

What's up guys! Looks like I'll be joining the xj club again tomorrow. I had a 98 last year, if all goes well ill be getting an 88 tomorrow. Already has a lift and cut fenders, going to mainly be a trail truck but still going to drive it down the road.

Great news! I picked up an 88 xj today. 3in lift 31s and such. Only problem is the rear diff angle is off a bit, it points up to the t case. I think it may need a t case drop and some shims under leafs.
