The crazy rumors have flowed out of wellsville for as long as I can remember...this is what I know to be truth...wellsville police don't even go to the free zone unless called...they know what people do their and don't generally care...dave sold all of his land "oak tree" to some company and is out of the picture for ever...oak tree is now turning into a free zone because the new "corporate" land owners haven't put up fences or done anything to stop people from using the land...wellsville police do petrol the roads by oaktree and WILL get you if your not leagle...now if your @ "the ville" camp ground that's the small hammondsville police dept and they do make a lot of money on giving tickets to people coming in and out for any little reason...but...just keep you and your rig legal and don't drink and drive or act like an idiot and you will be fine.
But you are 100% right about the rest.
Oak tree is now owned by a fracking company. Wheel till they drill it

do u know the train track way to get to the free zone. I only know the access road, and my trailer bottoms out on that road. Heard the tracks in and out were a smoother ride

Correction - the "freezone" is patrolled by the sheriff and his kids. Almost got into a fist fight the first time I was there with his son who also works for the sherif dep.

Newb owner checking in! I recently picked up a 97 XJ SE in trade for a 97 Ford Ranger XLT. The XJ has 250k on the odo and seems to have been a service vehicle of some sort due to the holes and plugs in the body that would indicate radio and lighting equipment installation. Its pretty ragged and is just a "fix only whats broke" DD. This is my 1st Jeep (although I've always wanted one) and I'm already eyeballing my second (2001 sport with only 123k) so I can pass this one down to my 16yr old step-son. The 2001 will become my official money pit...lol.
I'm from Nevada (neh-vay-da) Ohio in Wyandot County and love off-road woodsy type stuff as I also trail ride a quad and camp as often as I can.
I see some recent discussion about Wellsville and I am also quite sad to see it go as it was one of my favorite ATV spots. I actually have a video on youtube of me shooting a dozer track hill out by where the lookout was. Search for videos posted by mitsumerlin and you should be able to find it.
Anyhoo...glad to be here and hope to be a jeeper for life from here on out.
