Since both #1 & #2 are the same and I hear u can order 2 packs offline for around $100 I'll prolly do that. I've found a couple other shift solenoid threads that sound like mine.

IT ONLY HAPPENS WARM.
so if you come to a complete stop, its not downshifting to first at all but is from 3rd to 2nd? and once it gets to third, does your torque converter lock up? check by pushing the brake pedal just enough to make the lights come on, it should down kick the torque converter if its functioning. mine was doing something similar to your problem, it was throwing a engine light for solenoid "b" (#2) and by doing solenoids it fixed it.

Yes if its just not shifting but its solid. Very well could be the noids. But if there is any slipping, more than likely an internal problem.

If you put noids in it. Check the accumulator that pressurizes the band. It may need cleaned, broken spring, etc... You can access it from the pan. Or on the side. I forget which location that one has.

Yea see its not so much a slip. When I'm accelerating thru 1st and I'm getting to 2nd its like it shifts early into 2nd. But sometimes won't shift into it at all and will jus high rev. I'll let off the gas and let the rpms drop and settle and accel again hoping it shifted as I slowed off the gas

Thursday I'm off so it's work-on-the-Cherokee day. Need to figure out how to get the cb mounted, antennae relocated, and fire extinguisher mounted up somewhere, as well as do a typical check on my bolts and stuff. Hoping I can go to Heiney. If not I'm gonna be pretty upset.

What did you use and how did you mount it there? I'm wanting to put mine in the same place. Seems like the only logical place for it

I unscrewed the shade mount and made a bracket to use those screw holes out of wood

As long as I get the day off and work the next evening I'll be there. Gonna get some stuff together this week for and see how much room it leaves in the jeep.

After reading around more I'm starting to think I lost 2nd gear. Kinda makes me think solenoid. Where's the best place to get them. Auto zone said 170. Napa don't carry them.
