Model: Cherokee
Engine: 4.0L Hi
Welcome, I'm a Statesboro resident. I live out on Langston Chapel, with a full workshop and 2 XJ's. If you ever need tools/a spot to work on your rig don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. I've got everything you would need.
Man those were the days. The trails behind Camelot have now been rutted out so bad anything short of 38's and significant ground clearance isn't going to do squat, and the road off the cul-de-sac that takes you through the trails has been chained off. I live directly across the street..sad day. I've done some wheelin back there way back when though.
I'm looking for some good trails to ride, I'm a local here now, and know a ton of local kids that know their way around. About the best thing to do is go out and play on the dirt roads after a good rain, I know the roads like the back of my hand. Also, there's one monster of a trail behind Burkhalter, make sure you bring a buddy with a ****** chain or winch though.

You're 2 hours from Durhamtown, 2 hours from Gulches and there are trails all over Helen and the surrounding mountains.
Then again, you didn't ask that.
They aren't really a rock crawling crowd but check out SouthEast Expedition Society, there's a good many folks from there in your area and they have get togethers all the time.
I've been with them a lot.
Here's a couple pictures from the last trip.
Here's the link to the rest of the album from that weekend.

They aren't just Jeeps. All sorts of rigs but good guys.
You can find them on www.Expeditionportal.com in the Southeast Chapter.

That trip we went to Wildcat Campground and rode some awesome FS roads and some serious mountain edge roads. I can't remember the name of them at the moment... dangit.

The small red XJ is my baby DD Jeep. I was way at the back of the line. I kept hearing people on the CB talk about a ledge ahead that was alittle "Tricky".
I'm thinking "Sweet! I rock ledge obstacle that will be fun!" Let's just say when I got to what I think they were referring to as a ledge I was rather disappointed.
I never shifted into 4wd thru the entire ride.
They aren't always like that. They just had a large crowd so they made it uber easy.
Later a small crowd went out on a more difficult ride but it was still a pie ride. The hardest part was cutting a tree out of the trail.

Both of those links are, in general, a bunch of older guys in wildly built expo rigs that could sustain life for 3 months in the sticks... They ride forest service roads.
