Here is more info, if u got a 90 up xj u have a 23 spline tranny, shouldnt need the splibe adapter. All u need is a clocking ring and 7/8 thick adapter, to bolt right up. Or u can just bolt it in, but what has been said is the tcase hanges too low, have to shave from belly pan or something. I also think that its flipped, but idk.

Or you could spend a fraction of the money, keep your 231 and buy a SYE.

231 are good tcases and are wheeled alot!!! But if u are thinkin of regearin, with a dana 300 u gain 1.32 gear ratio. So in 4 lo if u have say 3.55 gears with yer tcase u have now u are runnin 2.67:1. When u go to 4:1 its like yer runnin 4.88 gears. Another benefit is 3.55 gears unless they are luggin alot gets good mpg especially compared to 4.88 gears. So u keep yer mpg gears in yer diff, but gain the super low in 4lo. Also u get an unbreakable tcase, tjat can handle chevy big block power. But yet a hack n tap is 99 bucks and either way u gotta buy a dshaft. But u see no benefit in 2 or 4 hi because its a 1:1 ratio like the np 231, so regearing is the only way u get power back on road.

I have 4.10 gears a 8.8 in the back a d30 up front. My drive shaft is like 29 1/2" compared to my stock which is around 32" if I'm not mistaken

Dang right!! I think how u do end ratios is, times the tranny gear u are in, more than likely first, which for an aw4 is pretty low like 3.2:1 or so maybe lower, times that by your tcase ratio in 4lo which is 2.67:1, then times by yer gears 4.10:1. Makin yer overall ratio. Now take all that and pit in 4 instead of 2.67. When u double a tcase u times say 2.67 np231 by dana 300 4:1, makes yer tcase ratio, 10.5:1 which then would be yer tcase 4 lo ratio. Ridiculous crawlin then, saw a guy with one in a yoda at the rubicon, goin up straight up rocks, got outta the yoda in first and it crawled itself, he just steered and it was a 5 speed.

There not that bad, well in 4 lo u have a stronger tcase than 231, which is a plus, and the full time 4wd, tho, idc about it, is a plus too, i just dont like a clutch bein in a tcase, but the aw4 wrks great with all its internal clutches. But u know y i dont like em.
