If u do all that I'd say u wouldn't ever have a prob breaking. I wheeled my 98 hard on stock 8.25 3.73 LSD and did awesome never an issue. But I don't dog it either. I would have went Aussie if I did not have a LSD carrier in mine which I would have had to bought a open 3.73 carrier which is rare on an 8.25. I think or that might ta been fer the d30. Either way 8.25 is a good axle in my regards. I'd take one but more expensive then 8.8 and no OEM 4.10 gears.
There is no carrier break for the 8.25 that is relevant to our uses. It's the same 3.07-4.88. The 27 spline 8.25 is fine locked on 33's and the 29 is fine locked on 35's, IMO and via the internets opinion. There was never a 31 spline. Biggest down side is the c clips, same with a 35 and 8.8 too. I run disc brakes, Lokka locker, and Yukon 4.56's in mine and haven't had a problem yet.
Same here. My 8.25 was free, so it was a no brainier to build over an 8.8 or 44.
I still need to go out there, haven't had a chance yet. Heard it's pretty awesome though.
