I gotta say I'm shocked and impressed!
The first picture of that Jeep and reading what you paid I thought he's freaking crazy on all counts.
Boy talk about "labor of love" (3 fingers worth also) Ouch.
The end result? I think out of all the Jeeps in here you should get the.......
MOST IMPROVED AWARD
I guess you showed why some of you love your Heep so much.
What ever made you pay 1K for that?
Are Jeeps scarce where you live?
How much more did it cost you?
I guess when you're younger it has to be a labor of love.
Last truck I brought home everyone thought was the parts truck but I made that rollover mint and swore never to do another.
Good luck

Main reason to pay 1k was first jeep and didnt know better lol.
I really wanted a waggie and the pickens are slim. Another reason is I saved a bunch of money by this rig coming with a stock Dana 44 so when you factor in that cost I got a great deal.
My second waggie I bought. I picked it up in cincinatti with a Dana 44 rearend and drove it home 2 and a half hours for 700.

Hey, $1k is less than I paid for my '93 ($1200), which is just a 2wd. Mind you, no rust and a stack of receipts is worth a lot.
Awesome looking Jeep, though. Turned out really good, you really turned it around. If I'd seen what was under that valve cover when I removed mine, I would have probably been sick and started looking for a new motor.
Rhino-liner is the bomb. I had it in my old Dakota, awesome stuff. If I ever pull the carpet I'm going to just redo the floor in that, and leave it like that. I mean, heck, never have to worry about it getting dirty or floor mats, right?

Saw this thread a while back and was impressed...
I agree with cheapJeeper on tan for the wheels--something different and would tie it together a bit. Runner up would be keeping them white, IMO.
My noob comment on rockers: my right one was badly rusted out... I had a body shop quote me almost $1k but they wanted to take off the front fender, do really good prep work, and use a pre-fab stock-like rocker and weld it all in, then prime/paint. Which was obviously the correct answer!
But then of course I found a retired sheet metal hack to do it for less than half that--and he rolled his own, used FG, pop rivets, and bondo. He also patched up my rotted floors with the same stuff. Looks OK, and got me an inspection sticker! But... I HATE the thought of all that FG & bondo under there! I may wind up ripping it all out in a year.
Really taught me a lesson--if you pay someone else for body work, and you are even a little picky, then you have to spec it out EXACTLY how you want it, and don't let them assume or guess ANYTHING.
Let's just say from everything I have learned on cherokeeforum in the past few months, now I wish I had done it all myself, would have been done my way, probably stronger, and less chances for hidden rot.
OK--rant switch is off!
Great thread--and hope you keep that wood siding!

Thank you for this thread. I am on the edge of swapping my running gear and buying another less-rusted body and this has served as another reminder that perhaps not all is lost with my rust situations.

Been awhile since I updated this thread. Not much work just some minor things that have been buggin me.
Went to pull-a-part today and found a center console.
The original one was cracked
Also remounted my CB bracket a lil more secure to keep the plastic from breaking so easy.
This time I remembered to put the heater vent back in on installation. Been out since I rhinoed the interior oops!
Final installation
This is how I wired in the CB if anyone is interested. The Top red wire is POS and the bottom one is the neg. I tested with a Multimeter first and they worked fine. Good thing about this one is the truck can be off and the CB still work!
Howler made these he has them in the vendor section! They cost 50 bucks a set but I think they are worth it. Kick backs for Pimping them Howler???
Door Sills.
That's about it now. I just ordered a few more things to help get ready for winterfest. Almost owned the jeep a year and it has come a long way. It has been my Daily driver for awhile now.

It was cool seeing the waggy in person yesterday...it's kinda like a celebrity, he he. Love the 3in lift and 30s, it's balanced out just right. I'd flip those white letters out if it were mine. I'm definitely going to do the bedlined rockers after seeing yours and probably the door sills, too. And I'll keep my eyes open for a tan lid to go with your new console.
