Howdy all.
Well. I started my oil pan gasket repair this afternoon at around 4:30pm.
It took about 15 mins to get all the bolts out and the pan was easy to get out from under the beast, AFTER I figured out how to use my Hi-Lift, to put it up on 3 ton jack stands, so as to drop the front axel low enough. It just fell out onto the ground.
But it only took me until 7:30 or so to actually get the pan OFF the freakin' motor![Brick Wall](https://www.cherokeeforum.com/images/smilies/brickwall.gif)

I seriously considered putting 250lbs. of tannerite under it and trying out my new 30-06. You know, just to see what would happen. For science.![Gunsmilie](https://www.cherokeeforum.com/images/smilies/gunsmilie.gif)

Anyway, I just finished removing the rock that was the old cork gasket from the pan, with a wire wheel and drill. It's 11:20 pm as I type this. I'm NOT putting the 4 piece gasket back on this thing. 1 piece Fel-Pro all the way. But it's gonna sit till Monday morning, because I'm leaving for Orlando at 4:00am.

If it's any consolation I got mine for 1,400 with a Fully rebuilt motor done by legitimate professionals that I could blindly say I can trust with my life. The Guy is like my second father. Not some backyard mechanic that can barely do breaks right. The rest of the jeep HAD 210,730 Miles on it. It now has 126,576 in just 10 months! Yes I drove alotttt anyways. If you look at my build thread. My buddy had bought it as a project. With a lift that had 3 inch blocks in the back. And air shocks all around. Maybe a 4 inch lift all around? And 35 x14's. On 22 inch rims. Oh boy anyways I put a rough country 4.5 X series lift and it already came with a set of 33x12.50 all terrains almost new. I wore em out in 4 months lol. Then put new Dunlop mud rover 33x12.50's on. Anyways making a long story short, I have barely put 1500 bucks into this jeep on top of what I paid and I must say its one of the nicest XJ's I've seen out there. Not cause it's mine. But damn. As far as the rough country lift, the ONLY downside I have seen within this first year is the tie Rod for the track bar takes a **** every 3-4 months or so. And I've beat the **** out of this jeep a few times and have never broken anything.
Sorry for the LONG *** POST. I'm not rooting my own horn or trying to seem better than anybody out there. Just wanted to explain my jeeps life haha plus I'm bored!

Haha thanks for all the help and input guys. Atleast I know by buying a cherokee I'll be joining a helpful group of people down here.
I'm going to look at this one today at noon. http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/4704592467.html
Talked him down a good bit but it also needs new tires. Looks to be a pretty clean XJ to get started out with though. Only problem is I'm going to eventually lift it more anyways. Maybe I can sell the old lift to get back atleast a few hundred bucks haha.
