Good luck on that, when I started researching engine's for the XJ/MJ conversions, any motor bigger then a 6.0 liter engine is going to take MAJOR fabrication work to make it fit, and unless you have endless amounts of cash and a shop full of cutters, welders, brake bends, and such, you're going to be wishing you hadn't went that route. Find a 4.8 or 5.3 chevy or the 5.9 mopar engine and go that route. I have $1300 in the motor (5.3), tranny (sm465), transfer case (Dana 300) in the MJ and the conversion parts are already at $1,500, and I am not even close to being finished, I am guessing another 2K to get the engine in and running. I would guess that all together I have 4K in it now and I still have about the same to go, probably more but I don't keep count cause I can't have the wife find out what it cost...lol
I am not trying to stop you from doing anything but like I stated above, you better have loads cash and endless amounts of time and equipment...It's not cheap at all, and NONE of your current Jeep equipment will hold up with that kind of HP in front of it, just keep that in mind...This is why I have a HD tranny and gear to gear TC going in the MJ, don't want to fab something and then keep replacing it as it breaks with the same weak parts...
If you do go that route, I want to see the build pictures and say "Good Luck", your going to need it...LOL
Not to say it can't be done, I saw one XJ with an 8.1 chevy motor in it, and EVERYTHING had been cut and fabricated for the engine/tranny/tc to fit properly!

You have no idea of my budget cuttnig abilities!
Were talking about $1000-$1500 for a parts truck, another 200-300(quoted) in motor mounts and clutch, and then I have to deal with the exhaust. The ram comes with dana 60s and the trans/transfer. My transfer case is blown and the engine too. I can get some cash for my current drivetrain, wheels, and 450 for the truck. All i need to buy apart from that is the dana 60 weld on brackets and stuff.
I am already plating my floors all the way to the firewall, because its all rotted. Might as well do the firewall while I am there.
