South Florida Dysfunctional 4x4's
I basically found a Chevy 350 and the guy has a TH400 tranny to go with it for a good price. Everything included just again wondering how much work would need to be done realistically

I'm pro learning as you go like when I did my transmission work but you have to do a lot of research first. Realistically speaking you and I will take a lot longer than Gary or outlaw just because they have more exponentially experience then both of us combined. I say if you want go for it, but know its going to take some work ask midnight (insert search light here) he has but a v8 in a jeep.

Delta is correct, I have a V8 Comanche project.
It has a LM7 new generation Chevy motor(5.3 liter ls motor).
If your interested in going this way with your XJ, I recommend going with an older v8 only because you are going to save a lot of money this way. A carb or TBI motor would save you a lot of dough.
Motor mount are about $200-250 and the tranny to tc adapter is about $500 and then you will need custom driveshafts.
Gets pricey quick but can be done. If you want to talk more about it PM me your number and I can explain it in more detail.
If I had to guess i would say 2-3 grand for a completed drive able XJ with the older v8 and a bit more for the newer. V8 swap
