I just bought a new to me CB radio. It is a Cobra 29 LTD Classic. I didn't have a chance to install it yet. However, the P.O. had pre-wired the XJ for a CB. I screwed the antenna into the mount, and promptly took it offroading.
That mount was not very strong. The first branch that the antenna hit snapped the mount in half. By branch I mean twig. The mount was plastic. It didn't damage the fender, but the mount is toast. It is mounted straight into the fender on the driver's side, about 10 inches from the top, and 4 inches from the rear of the front fender.
Anyway, now I have to find a new mount, and probably relocate it somewhere else. Any suggestions? I do like it in front, that way I can keep an eye on it when I am wheeling. I've also seen too many taillight mounts come apart and destroy the light along with the mount. I'm thinking maybe mount it right in the center of the front bumper.

I refuse to go to those car washes because it broke the mount and coax. I just go to those do it your self ones with the pressure cleaner type deals.
