If you hit something and your LF tire comes off the ground but your RF is still in contact without a locker the power is sent to the LF tire. Does nothing for you. With a locker both tires spin and you get over obstacles easier.
Kewl thanks like I said I should have known but for the life of me I couldn't think of it. Thanks again.

Zwhiz, Scott, and everyone else wanting to convoy up, my directions take me Rt 50 - 495 - 270 all the way up. Normally I wouldn't like this route, but it's the weekend so I don't anticipate traffic being an issue, especially now that we can head up around 3pm. Let me know what you all think.

Yep. I'm just happy I know what it does now. A few months ago I had no idea. On all the obstacles that I have failed to get over. Every single time someone said, "You need a locker!" I gave in to peer pressure.

Good deal. Locker took a bit longer than I thought. No real issues so I can't complain.

A couple of questions, am I going to need brackets to install these hooks? If so can they be bought or should I just get them made up?

Left the ZJ brackets on them...
Might be able to modify them for the XJ...
