hey dukie, you said you just ripped off the bumper end caps on yours and said screw it...im considering doing that to mine...besides easier time removing the bumper when you need to, are there any benefits? I'm kinda iffy on doing it.

I think it looks better - also since I trimmed the ends of the metal and the fenders it was necessary. I wouldn't if you're not planning on trimming though

took me a little longer than 5 minutes...lol, i forgot how primitive MS paint is. here we go though, the arrows point to what would be cut, straight up to where the teeth would start.

as far as the tag, i would either put it on the grille or lower its position. possibly even fab something up to put it above the teeth, but not on the grille..like, outstretched from the bumper.

I'll tell you now, that won't pass MD state inspection. They gigged me for having a broken plastic end cap cause "it's jagged, and that's a safety hazard." They won't let sharp metal fly, unless you have a guy who just doesn't care.

EDIT: And I pulled off my caps the right way with sockets. Do that, and if you don't like it, you can always just put them back on.

i can work with that. it wouldnt be too hard to cap off the ends of it with part of the old end caps. if nothing else make it a little longer, and just keep the painted part the same length.

OR, if all else fails, just take a bumper from crazy rays and throw it on if i ever need to for some reason.

EDIT: in response to your edit...iv tried. i cant seem to find all the stinkin bolts. i unbolted every piece i could find on the one end cap, and its still on there nice and solid. im obviously missing something, lol

once you pass MD state inspection as long as you keep the tags good you only have to worry about dealing with the po po, you dont have to run through state Inspect multiple times like DE or PA

Or west Virginia. Thank god. Can you imagine an annual inspection? None of our keeps would be cool.

Good to know. I just moved here in April, so all I have to worry about is emissions every 2 years? I can deal.
96xjclassic, can I swing by your place after I get cleaned up here? I wanna show you something on the Jeep.

yes but with MD unless you find a crooked inspect station. if ANYTHING is modified on the vehicle you will fail. if their is rust on the frame or suspension or anythin like that. you will fail. MD is one of the most pain in the *** states for inspections but its one and done.
