That's true, but this way you wouldn't need to mess with pins much, and its unique. I think I'll be doing this this summer. do it for all 4 doors. I'll probably buy a set of doors to experiment on it first before I tear apart my doors.

i got sum 4-6 inch round cedar logs i could use instead--rot-free woodage!

i think it should be left ah naturaaaal
and maybe carve 'XJ' into it somewhere...haha
this is funny cause i saw an xj with a 2x6 rear bumper about a month ago...made my xj look brand new!

And I wonder if I can make a swing out tire carrier out of some 2x2 i have lying around. Seems like a good project for this weekend. Then just put a regular gate hinge on it instead of a spindle. Problem solved, Damn I'm good!
