If memory serves me correct the gasket is too long to fit properly and the ??? is tapping. I want to say valve cover gasket, but I could be wrong. Gaskets are fine, valve cover on the 2000 head is 1/2" shorter than an older valve cover, Scott and I broke out measuring tapes to verify, you can FEEL the rockers hitting the cover.
