Good Morning Ladies and Gents of MD Jeep. My computer is now repaired and the XJ is down again.....LOL. I've already spoken to Pulltab, but as you know it's a two hour drive from his residence to mine. Scott is also down and I need someone in the area to check out the XJ, PT Mike and Scott think it's electrical;but is it possible it could be starter or alternator. In the mean time I'm going on youtube to get some information after I read the last 20 pages. Have a wonderful day

Its not that difficult to knock out and knock in new bearings Mike, then you get the piece of mind of a brand new bottom end. A master rebuild kit with all the bearings, gaskets and piston/rings will run ya 3-400. My pops and I would be glad to show ya how its done.

From what you told me on the phone yesterday.... It's electrical.
It's either the ground on the back of the head, or the Positive lead on the battery.
I need to check, but I know the ZJ's had an issue with a screw on the computer, just wondering out loud if the XJ's had the same problem.....your issue is the same one I had last year on my ZJ....no start but power to everything else...
And I am planning on stopping by Sunday afternoon before I head home from Frostys to throw on new valve cover....

That's a possibility but like I said I have a perfect running 120K mile motor in the '00 I bought yesterday so that would be an easy swap

Hey Alex, how much coin we talking to spray my whole truck? Thinking about using the passenger side doors from the '00 I just bought because my current ones are pretty banged up.

drop in my *** - you need to upgrade the wiring and use a ANL fuse to protect the vehicle electronics for that kind of amps.

my future mother in-law has a 2000 grand with the same problem. She doesn't let me work on it but the shop she took it to said it was the ignition switch which is integrated into "a mysterious black box in the column" so they have to replace the whole thing.... 3-400 bucks. I told her I would just wire a push button start on the dash. Turn the key so the switch is energized and boom

The ECM on ZJ's have a design flaw....One of the screws that holds the circuit board in has a tendency to touch things it shouldn't, and shuts everything down. Just a matter of backing off offending screw 1/4 turn...

I'm spraying the same color and I'll be there to help prep and bring a 30 pack or 2 of brewskis

wouldn't need to do the jambs or under the hood
