at 1st, one of the 2 ground wires in the battery terminal on the neg lead the one on the right was loose in the connector. i took them out, reseated them. also took off the Pos battery connector also. And that is when we could get the thunk from the starter when turning the key over. so i guesstimated maybe a few love tapes with a deadblow bfh. on starter and/or solenoid may work(i used to own fords and know how the starter was on them). Then i called mike, he suggested hook up to the surburban which is running dual batteries and an 8.1 vortec (its a beast) to help narrow down possibilities of battery or alt. Tried it it, and it just thunked again. so i went under the jeep and was looking at the starter giving it some more luv tapes when i noticed smoke come out what appeared to be a drain tube on the bottom of the starter..

sorry for the long story, tried to make it shorter...

it's not a trade secret if you are required to know it in order to own a ford

Thanks Jon. I appreciate the offer . I appreciate all of you so much and I can't wait to get to a M&G to meet more of you in person. Had to start a MD Jeep file on my phone, getting lots of numbers. I am so glad that I found this sight
