It's over for me....as long as it doesn't continue. Hopefully we can gracefully agree to disagree on this one, because for my part, I wished no malice.

I eyeballed the balancer when I did the belt/ idler pully last week. It looked ok, no rubber hangin out.

I'm leaning towards alt as well. I'm gonna pull the belt again tomorrow and see if it still noises.

Yes...we are kindred bearded spirits, and of course you are good enough, I would be honored.

However, and here is the quandary; you have that which I do not want, and lack that which I crave. Therefore, regrettably, it cannot be.

You're not, you just aren't reading/comprehending proper. The whole "young, dumb, full of ***" thing working against you.

Most of what you see as "being talked down to" on here is just advice.

I have an even stranger issue. Driving my wife's XJ back from Ohio today, the ALT light (idiot light looking like a battery) kept coming on (usually indicative of a bad alternator), but it would go off if I restarted the truck. I drove 5 hours like that, so I know the alternator and battery are good.

Anyone heard of idiot lights going bad? Thinking of getting her a full cluster, that way I just KNOW what's going on...
