my idiot light for mine did that for a few days then stayed on and a few days later i was getting pushed out if a tunnel at rush hour.

Could just be a crossed or loose wire contacting, or it could be one of the screws coming loose on the roof rack.

Yeah, but mine has done it a few times over the past YEAR...lol. To the point I CARRY a spare alternator in the back....lol "Just in case"

you guys carry more spare parts around with you than you would need to put together another entire XJ. js. i dont have the extra money for lots if spares. lol.
