You'll have to excuse Fester as he's kinda hard to understand at times. What he said is that if you have a 242 then hack-n-tap is your ONLY option. For a NP231, you can go with either a hack-n-tap or full SYE kit, which includes a new HD output shaft and rear housing.

I would personally go full kit, but I know plenty of people that have had good luck with a hack-n-tap. As long as you have a new style Tcase, otherwise you have to buy the rear flange as well and at that point it's not a whole lot cheaper than a full kit.

Hobart makes great equipment. My 110 MIG is a Hobart Handler 140. No complaints, I have used it a fair amount in the 4 years I have had it. I HIGHLY recommend running solid wire w/ shielding gas. Much cleaner welds with much less dressing/cleanup

Shirey - nice, so going to stick with law enforcement still? I'm going to be a corrections officer until I can be a regular cop. I'm done with school and probably won't do college, but I might take a class a semester or so.

Mickey - IRO has a HnT with a refurbished driveshaft for 200, would that be a good option? I would consider upgrading later, but for now budget isn't so big. as far as the new style T-case. would a 99 XJ have that?
