I'll probably upgrade to a super 44 offroad this summer, and 2.5" piping, and I'll also probably do something with the cat as well.

Leave the stock tailpipe on or get a crinkle bent tailpipe and it'll be a bit quieter.
Either that or a Delta flow 50 series would be a bit quieter but still have good tone

I run a stock header and downpipe if it makes any difference in your decision on what to do.

or.....
is there such thing of a muffler that doesn't really quiet the exhuast at all? like running without one at all, but reducing the drone at higher RPMs? and maybe putting a little tone on it as well? of course with that it wouldn't be as loud without a muffler, but I wouldn't mind running the exhuast out the side for shorter piping

well thats just the difference between a good driver and a not so good one, plus GTIs suffer from understeer (FWD) while the XJ I've noticed is pretty even, no under or oversteer, just a little top-heavy.
yep, thanks for the offer though, just not what I'm looking for, had it been a manual I might've looked into ita little more, lol. if you pm me some pics and info on it, I'll ask around for ya.
