ok front output shaft seal for a 242 transfer case--is that an external replacement or am i splitting the transfer case, we got leakage?

There in the Susquehanna it's in PA but i'm sure some of the Maryland guys that fish know where i'm talking about. It's outside York Haven. I've run in to some CF members down there.
