cant afford the gas to get all the way up there...i only get 12.2 mpg. im hoping maybe with all the repairs and modifications im doing thatll improve, but i can only go on previous numbers at the moment.

Pulltabmike I'm gonna need your welding expertise one day coming up. The trackbar mount I picked up is a drop mount, so I need to cut some material off at the top and re-weld it. I will never need a dropped trackbar...

I don't think anyone here has a trailer for their rig...i know you're anxious to go wheeling, but A) your jeep needs a lot of work. You need it to be in good mechanical condition before you take it offroad. And B) spending your last dime so you can go wheeling might not be the best idea ever...RC has a membership fee that you must pay to go there. I think it's like $15/year + $35 every time you go.

i look at it this way. if you were right, and everything works properly once i get her back together, she'll be running better than ever. that means i can spends some extra dough on the stuff i need to make her offroad-worthy. and im already planning on how ima get the trailer.

Last time I went it was $15 for years membership, $35 a day to wheel and roughly $100 in gas up and back. Can't remember what the turnpike toll was. That's not counting making sure I had cash for repairs.
I will have a tow rig, but will be towing my other jeep up also. Plan on getting my wife behind the wheel for this one (also plan on it costing me double for gas)

Mine will be ready getting my rear trussed with alloy shafts and auburn e-locker back tomorrow. Then I'm going to put it in and take my old 8.25 out with the lock right locker. Just got through puttin on my super rock sliders on I got from AJ's. Just need my winch, think my gf is getting me that for Xmas anyhow, I'd anybody comes across a gas skid plate let me know please I'm looking for one

I dont want to lecture you cause your a grown ***** man, but think carefully about these decisions before you do it.
This is a big boy, get your feelings hurt game we play with our Jeeps.
You almost couldnt get your Jeep taken care of without help the last time it broke down.
What happens when you break something major in a different state? how are you going to take care of it then?

i know very few people that go to RC and can come back with nothing broken..

Even stock guys that play on the baby trails break stuff.
I had a friend, whose built up with more than $5K invested in their rig; everything from axles to armor, lose 2 brand new 35" tires while going down a baby trail at RC, that leads to the harder stuff. and he only brought 1 spare tire...

even if you were able to split gas costs for someone to trailer your rig, they would also have to trailer their rig, i dont know anyone that has a double trailer. cause none of our jeeps are rated for towing another jeep on a trailer. and anyone who is towing is going to be using something big like a f250 or a diesel, so by the time you split the gas for that, you might as well drive it.

by the time you spend all your money on food, camping, gas (250+ miles round trip + gas for wheeling) & membership - your not gonna have anything left to fix anything you break..

you have to be prepared to spend a lil more than a hundred bucks for the weekend, and thats just to play, for one day.

think about it, if you wheel a lil too hard & blow a motor or break a line or lose a wheel or something, what are you going to do?
You have to have money to get it home.. thats when you need to have an extra couple hundred laying around as just in case.
if you cant dedicated at least $300-400 for the weekend (even if you dont end up using it), then you shouldnt be playing.
That goes for anytime you go play, not just at RC.

Take me for example, i went and played on the farm and i gots a lift, under armor and bigger tires.
I broke my steering in 3 different places and had to get a wheel re-balanced when i got home.
and i did everything that clown did, and less. and i came out hurt and he didnt. and he has less than i have on my rig.
so now i have to spend an extra $100+ to fix these things.
after looking at it in the air, i saw that if i didnt have that lift & armor i woulda been screwed i could of lost my whole gas tank, and thats about $200+ right there..
And this is mostly playing in mud and a very small "stock" level rock garden.
What happens when you go to RC that has bigger rocks for the "stock" people?

If i remember right your sitting at negative to no lift and stock type tires. no upgrades from steering & tires to axles & armor.

Your need to make sure your engine is running strong; check all your fluids are good in the axles, tc, engine & tranny; then add a small lift and something a lil bigger on the wheels and maybe some skid armor protection before you go out there.
once you get used to that set up then you can look at going out and playing. because lifting a vehicle and changing the meat you roll on changes the way your vehicle drives & handles. you have to know your vehicle very well to wheel.

Just because you lift a vehicle doesnt mean you can just jump out any trail you want, you still have to consider your experience level. Which means even if you were to do a lift & tires, better than stock, you would still want to stay on the baby side for a day or a trip.

RC is mostly rocks and bumps, little mud. So you cant just go play in the dirt. With Rocks comes the (very big) potential to break stuff. Breaking stuff means you have to spend more money to fix stuff.

I'd be very surprised if you found high-amp dpdt switches for under $10-15. What are they for? 30A is a lot to send through a switch.
