6-8 bolts to remove the hitch. 8 bolts to remove bumper so you can grab the nut strips. Easy

When me and my buddy pulled my hitch it ended up with my buddy standing on the ratchet holding onto the bumper and bouncing to break the factory bolts loose. Those factory bolts didn't want to budge, they weren't even rusted just really really tight.

Was the Jeep you were taking it off of laying on it's side? Or am I missing something?

Nope he was one foot on the ratchet, back towards the ground doing a pull up with the bumper to shift his weight onto the ratchet.

On its side would have been easier.
