that's what I would do - Just format the drive and install a copy of whatever OS you want to run (Ubuntu, WindowsXP, Win7, etc). Then go onto the Sony website and download the drivers you need for whatever hardware you find out the computer has based on what you see in the device manager.
Then chances you'll get a recovery disk to match the computer's setup is slim anyways, and that's all a recovery disk does.

i dont know much about computers but how to use them really. so im really dumb. if somebody is somewhat close to me. even within about a 45 min drive I.E Baltimore* and you know your stuff about computers and can get me up and running and not cost much let me know ill work something out. i just dont know what i need to download or what to do. right now i have XP on it. i used from my old mans Dell, but id like to run Windows 7

also, heart transplant (battery) from the blue jeep and my moms van was successful. though my dad isn't letting me take the skid plates off.....so no trails road for me thursday....
