I took my rear sway bar off today. Anyone done that? It feels kind of loose at high speeds but otherwise I can't tell.

Lots of people do. Some XJs didn't have the rear sway bar when they were new. I still have mine in, but I'm gonna take it out once I put on leaf springs that aren't broken.

Just remember that in Maryland...if you live here the majority of the time...you have to register here. They do check. Unless you stay 'off grid', but even tax returns could be checked.

As far as your motor, You can talk to 10 people on the forums, and get 10 different answers. If you were up my way, I'd help you put a new (or used) one in. I'm not paying 3+K to have ANY shop do ANY kind of work on my vehicles but that is just me....
Yeah...I wish I had the space to work on it myself. I got tons of tools too...just no space. I live in an HOA (not by choice) so that's even worse. I had to pay $3300 on doing my Hd Gaskets on my Subaru back in April. Everyone around there wants $100-$125+ per hour. Mechanics thinking they are doctors the way they charge. Dumb!

As far as inspection goes, I have the actual sheet the tech used to do mine....
I'm in Gaithersburg area. I just like calling Montgomery Monkey County because that is about highest level of intelligence our county leadership has. Effing idiots!

But yeah...if you have a shop to recommend..I'm always looking for leads. My main shop guy (DPS in Gaithersburg) doesn't do Jeeps. He'd can do a basic engine swap for ~$1000 - $1500 but as he said...he's not familiar so it could have some unknowns.

I'm good as far as the inspection list. I'm pretty well versed in the majority of the inspection. I've been find a lot of links to the code too.

I'm also interested, but put me on a lower "local" priority interest. I'm not pressed for them...but want them, and seems like an OK price (I haven't really searched to verify). As you can see...motor is on my mind.

yeah man, that will help you out a good bit and you shouldn't notice anything really on the road... that would of helped ya out at Trails, lol...
just messin with ya, but hey man, I don't have one on the back or the front, lol... you will hear an argument from many about every way/possibility... all i will say is the rear is useless, and best bet is to take it off, drive it around carefully and if you don't like it you can put it back on... just the rear though you should be good.
also keep the brackets and you can use them as BPE's...

What would cause my steering to be very loose? It also wanders all over the place. Steering box?

I work in Gaithersburg. My buddy is a mechanic. His shop is in the village. He isn't into off roading but he has a wrangler and a ZJ. He can do an engine.

New problem started yesterday afternoon on the way to work, still happening this morning. When I activate my turn signal, I get a buzzing/static sound from in the dash on the far left. So far, it's only the left-turn signal, and only when my marker lights are on, but not headlights. I've only driven twice since it started happening, so it may happen at other times that I don't yet know. It doesn't happen every time.
Is there a specific wire or ground I should be looking for?

It's probably been happening since you got your new audio system you just never heard it. Jk!

Josh you're not a screw up, you just are in a ****ty situation right now. You really just need to get things straightened out with your wife/charges/housing situation before you worry too much about the jeep. Ambition certainly is nothing to be ashamed of and I nor anyone else here would tell you otherwise, but sometimes situations warrant putting things on the back burner. I think you just rushed into trying to get everything done as quickly as possible, and it was too stressful on you, your wife, and me today. I was a bit angry about the events that occurred today but don't worry I haven't given up on you that easily. My advice is to step back for a second and maybe re-prioritize that things that are really most important in your life at this instant.

On a good note I made a jeep friend connection tonight that will lead to having access to the auto body shop on Ft. Meade when he's available, so maybe that will put less stress on getting everything planned out...

New member here. Joined up after being invited by Justin (Dukie564). I live in the Crofton area but work over at Fort Meade. The only picture of my Jeep that I have is when I was testing the 4wd to see if it worked or not after I bought it. It still looks the same except for a small dent on the hatch and the rear may be sagging a slight bit more.
