I believe in Karma and don't want to be misleading people on ebay or elsewhere. I believe this is the real deal and if I new I were keeping it for ten years I wouldn't give a damn. But since I have a baby on the way and will probably have to sell by summers end I want to make sure I know the real details. Someone catches you in an untruth once you are not a liar once in their mind, you are a liar period in their mind. Accuracy is important in resale and life.
I don't care if you are a liar or not, I look as you as neither, everything is level until proven otherwise. You have a nice untouched(ish) Jeep, and I would like to buy it, if I could afford to do so

I'll throw my lot in here one time. The build sheets from Chrysler/Jeep for our generation of XJ/MJs are unreliable. The VINs are also unreliable. These were made during the transition period between manufacturers, and the standards were not followed. Records were not kept. I also know that a full gauge cluster was an available option on at least some trim levels. Therefore, not having a build sheet or any consistent manufacturer information to base a theory on, I say we can't know if the cluster is original just by looking at what it has. If it's a different color of something obvious, that would be one thing. Even if it was replaced, the odometer could have been changed to the right number. There's no way to know.

nah thats just how it came off cause of the entertainment earlier.
no its not "here we go again". this all started because i asked jeff on the phone while he was standing there with infohound in front of his truck, what trim level it was. his answer, "yeah its a base model". based on the info given, i came to the conclusion about the cluster.
conclusion, no one gives a **** anymore. not even me. you tell me over the phone its a base model, its a base model.

Here is my helpful opinion...and this is just me.
There is not a stock XJ on this planet that I would pay $5500 for except the Deisel Overland that saw limited production in England.
Beyond that....not a fat chance.
But I do wish you luck with your sale.

$5500 is a dealership price, either with some kind of warranty or at a buy-here-pay-here lot for those without credit history. I agree it isn't really a market price from a private seller. Info, it'd be great if you get it, but I wouldn't expect it to happen.

I got some responses back from guys on a national forum and one who was no doubt optimistic said it was worth between 5 and 7k. Granted he had never seen it and it's easy to feed me pie in the sky figures when he doesn't have to cough up the money. The reason I sought out this forum in the first place was to find out if I could get it running nice and cool for the summer and enjoy it before baby comes and also to ask real life potential jeep buyers and current jeep owners what it is worth. The beauty of craigslist and ebay is they are free and I can adjust the ad as needed. I can always come down on my price as i gather more useful input. I know I can never go up on a price. That is why I started where I did.
