Hey Dukie,
What all was wrong with that engine besides plugged oil galleys.......
I may get energetic one day and get that stuff soaking in some diesel to get freed up...
If that is all it needs, we can slap it together and have him driving it the day he comes and picks it up. DMV is right up the road.....

that'd be awesome ^_^ just so my confuzzled mind is clear, when you say " we ", are you referring to you and I the day I come and get it, or you and your friend who towed it?

I figured You, Dukie and I can get whatever need to be done to it done the day you pick it up, and get her running....then you can drive it outta there instead of having it towed...

ok. just an fyi for future convos, I get confused and misunderstand things really easily, so sometimes I might ask something that seems rude ( like what went on in PM the other day ) but it isn't meant to be, I just didn't fully understand what was said.

Get back to work, get some money saved, get your insurance and title straightened out. If you get that job, you will have PLENTY of time to get it running. Might as well get er done right the first time....
When Dukie responds, I'll stop by one day and get whatever needs to be loosened up soaking...sounds like he had a good idea on what was going on with it...

the oil galleys I scraped but they need to be vacuumed/cleaned out and maybe scraped better. The lifters need to be taken out and cleaned, soaked in motor oil, and put back in exactly the same hole they came out of.

The head needs a serious soak and scrub job. I like purple power but diesel oil will work even better probably.

Just a note I don't think Josh kept the push rods and rockers matched up to what valve they were mated with, so we/you need to attempt to match the wear patterns up between them.

As far as all the gaskets and the new rod/rocker/rocker bridge/cap screws I was under the impression Josh already had the new parts, I dunno if that assumption was accurate or not.

and in a perfect world he needs to drop the oil pan and clean that out as well and replace the pump screen, possibly the pump as well

OK. I will get all of the prep work done, we can figure out the push rods/rockers later on down the road. My eyesight isn't the greatest anymore

I'll presoak in diesel, and follow up with compressed air and solvent if need be....

That's a given. No use putting it back together without doing that...

I have a head gasket set, so VC gasket, head, intake/exhaust mani, and a few others, I have them. I'm replacing the entire rocker bridge/rod line up, so forget matching wear patterns. This is the first major step in an eventual complete and total rebuild on Anya, front to back, piece by painful piece.

I'd be willing to help out as well. I might not know much about Jeeps. But I catch on very quickly. If i wasn't so good at sales, I would have went to school to be a mechanic Plus its always nice to have an extra set of hands to get stuff.

welcome aboard friend! ^_^ this is going to end up just as I imagined...a crowd of people surround Anya, each of us doing a little something, putting her back together, and all clapping and cheering when she finally roars back to life....* wipes a small tear from his eye * ( half joking half serious ) oh I so can't wait for that day...
