can you look for a 5 speed xj while you're there? I need the plastic ring that holds the shifter boot in place (it's inside/below it)

I am thinking it needs a charge, the compressor was likely disconnected so the motor could be swapped so it likely needs a suck and charge. SDC is our resident a/c expert with al the expensive play tools

alright engineers, For my tire swing the arm is 2" square tube .120 wall and the mounting BS for the tire and other goodies is going to be 1" sch 40 pipe *.120 wall* Bent into 2 upside down "U's" creating an "M"

My question is how much is it going to want to rock forward and back toward and away from the lift gate with having no triangulation on the hoop. I havent bent anything yet just curious if I need to rethink before I bend a bunch of pipe

Something similar to this but the tire will be as far toward the spindle as possible

honestly i think 1" dia is going to be too small for carrying a load like that, especially if it's only 0.120 wall. What size tire will you be carrying?

and for reference i'd never use anything less than .188 wall for load carrying applications, just for cosmetic stuff

31x10.5x15

If I jump up pipe diameter and some 90 deg gussets? Or should I jump diameter and wall thickness?

Really? wow, the plans I bought for that buggy had me build that whole cage except the "frame" on the bottom out of 1" .120" wall pipe lol

Why? Cages are built from .120 wall DOM....although arms are built with .250 wall.

that thickness is ok for a buggy frame / cage, but you're going to want bigger than 1" dia. at LEAST 1.5", 1.75 or 2" dia. would be much smarter. The diameter is very important to resist buckling loads under compression.

And if you have the money I suggest DOM over HREW

These are the SCORE and BITD requirements based on the weight of the vehicle for reference:

Under 2000 lbs: 1.5 x .090
2000-2999: 1.75 x .120
3000-3999: 2.0 x .120
over 4000: 2.25 x .120

Unfortunately its already built but I appreciate the insight

as for the tire carrier jump up dia and wall? and will 3" tall gussets be enough bracing against lateral movement or do I need to make them more comparable to the height of the hoop?
