Before you make any silly decisions, go to a shooting range. Ask questions, shoot as many hand guns as you can. You want power, but you also want to be comfortable shooting it. Take your time and make a wise decision. At least go to gunrunners in Frederick and hold as many as you can.

I didn't choose a handgun.
I chose a mossberg 500. It's not comfortable, it will get the Job done though.
