As I said when they posted it on Facebook:

So, they want Chrysler to replace the Quadra-link suspension that they've been using since '84 because people drive with loose track bar bolts after lifting?

600 complaints.....28 years and a couple/few million sold.....

They should not give out purses with Jeeps.

I blame JK owners. I've never heard anyone with an XJ/MJ/TJ/LJ complain about DW except to say that it's an inconvenience that they need to fix. And if those JK lovers are so worried, they can just convert to four wheel leaf spring suspension and shut up. This doesn't apply to all JK owners, of course. Y'all know what I mean.

I think it's pretty clear it's not Jeep's fault. their stock vehicles do not have DW. it's only when people modify the jeeps. as for what tim said about JK owners. A lot of people have gotten the 4 door ones, and probably get the cheapo lifts not doing much research on them. they just don't know what they're getting into. Most people who lift XJs lift them for offroading.

That's what I mean. I'd say at least 90% of JKs sold have never touched a dirt road, but many are lifted or lowered, with aftermarket accessories. And I'd say most of those people don't understand how the suspension works, and they're just paying a shop to do the work. I can't blame DW for an accident, though. I went through it well over two dozen times with the XJ, and it never caused me to lose control of the vehicle. It's just a nuisance.

I blame women drivers and Asians getting high-centered on guard rails.

yep, one of the articles said it doesn't cause a complete loss of control. I'm sure a lot of people just don't expect it and panic and say they lose control....similar to what happened to the guy with the toyota problem. if only he had thought of shifting it into neutral (or out of drive in general)....he and his family could have survived. i mean it sucks to bring that up, but sometimes it's the own people's fault. in this case people are modifying their vehicle beyond their understanding.

I plan on getting everything I need so I don't need to go through stuff like this. I also am lucky enough to have another vehicle to drive if something comes up, and while working on it.

For me, it ended up being an improperly torqued axle-side trackbar bolt. When I stopped on the side of the highway on the way back here from Cleveland, the bolt only had 1/4" of thread in the hole. A few more miles, and I would've lost it. From the people I've talked to, that's been the most common problem.
