Brakes aren't pretty. Local shop is gonna check everything out and walk me through it next week. It'll be under the table (cheap), and I actually trust these guys to be honest with me.

Didn't look at the rears, but they should be fine. I had them redone for inspection in April...by the same people who riveted an ASE sign to my floor and called it patched. Everything on the front is straight brown, and stuff turns to dust when you touch it lol. It's all worn unevenly, and just looks to be in bad shape. I figured it'd be better to let someone with more experience decide what needs replaced.

I've done many drum brakes too, can be a little frustrating for the first timer (remembering years ago when I did my first set )
Sounds like the brakes cooked... if the rotors are worn unevenly they may be able to turn them if there is enough there. Even if they have to be replaced they are not that expensive...
Take some pictures next time so we can verify if you are being told the "right" way to go...just looking out for ya buddy

A huge thanks to Mark and Tim for the speaker grilles. It looks like Tim's will fit mine whereas the metal ones won't, but I have yet to physically try to put them in. Mark, as promised, we said hi to the XJ
Edit: Ok the picture is tiny for some reason, I guess my phone decided to compress for no reason. That is your jeep in the background though

Rear drum brakes can be frustrating even for someone who has done them 3 or 4 times. I just did a set on a TJ last week and it took me a little bit. I didn't have any specialty tools so I did it the old school way with a flat head screwdriver to stretch the springs back onto the perch and pliers to undo the button heads.
