The steering in the Jeep is loose feeling. From what I've read I should turn the steering wheel back and forth to find where the play is. From what I see there is a little rotation at the TRE which is normal? I was also told but have not verified that the passenger hub has a little play. Could the hub assembly starting to go cause the loose steering?

Do you have any rotational type noises when you drive it. The hubs usually make a scrape noise when they are going bad.

I do not as far as I can tell. It drive fine until last night on the highway. I noticed that I needed to turn the wheel more to get it to respond and hitting bumps caused it to drive erratic.

It's probably not from the hubs. My best guess without looking at it is tre. I usually squeeze them with a channel lock to check the play.
