I didn't see any play in any of the steering components. Put my hand on the top of the steering box where the shaft is and there is a lot of play.

Getting started on the winch bumper today

Gonna end up with 6 mounting bolts here

Same with this side. The 3 steering bolts (being upgraded to grade 8, and HD steering box spacer I'm gonna make) and I'm going to make room for 3 more. Should be plenty strong

Now in between the mounts across the bottom will be a 32 3/4" piece of 2x6 tube to add some rigidity to where the winch will reside.

What do you guys think so far? Especially on my use of the 2x6, is it overkill? Esp at almost $9 a foot

Good to know. We'll have to get together someday. Let me know if you need a hand working on something. I love to learn.

Think I could rent your plasma cutter for a day or two while I do this winch bumper? It'd save me hours on cutting LOL
its tied up till saturday and then I am heading out of town but if you want to wait to do the heavy cutting till monday and just relax and enjoy your weekend... id be willing to bring it down to you to let you borrow it...
