It stabilizes (dampens) your steering in the way that when you hit something at speed it doesn't jerk the wheel out of your hands. Slows the reaction down so to speak. Think of it as a shock for your steering. Definitely won't effect anything else by replacing it.

that was my side thought. thank you. maybe ill get to it sunday to fix my bump steer. gotta get a damn steering box too. ****.

Let me know how that one works out....I am torn between the LTD BT and the LX BT....I have heard of quality issues with the LX....
