How old does a vehicle have to be to get historic tags? My parents need them I think. They have 90 and 92 Volvos.

Possibility that it could be the drum, a lot of people don't realize that they have to be turned too. Easier to check that than pull an axle shaft...

I think I need to get with you and Jakbob and figure out how to get my xj running sweet. I've about given up and I'll just run it til it don't run no more. Duke I may need your expertise too. I need a xj for dummy book. Lol.

20 years, but it limits how much the car can be driven. i believe MD state law says "historic tagged vehicles can only be driven on sundays" or some ****. but then again, it isnt a very strict issue with the police.

that is true, but dont the drums warp on the horizontal surface, not the vertical? not saying you are wrong, im just not sure.

  • To qualify as a historic vehicle, your vehicle must not have been substantially altered, remodeled, or remanufactured from its original construction, and must be 20 model years or older.

8.25 is c clip. Possible your rear driveshaft is unbalanced. Also, with the other guys said about axle being bent..

Drums can wear unevenly causing an imbalance situation. Drums can warp if brakes are locked up and overheat, e-brake left on, ect. These are problems that would be noticable at a certain speed. IF he is seeing the wobble just by spinning the tire by hand, I agree that it is the axle shaft. Easier to check the drum first though...

true. you can see the wobble, but only vibrates from 55-60 mph... how could a bad driveshaft cause wheel wobble?

Oh, it's a wheel wobble? Sorry, then I'd have to go with axle if wheel is all tight.

If it is tweaked at the hub (I betcha that is where it is bent), your gonna have some kind of movement...
If he cannot move the tire at the 3/9 position and the 12/6 position you can rule out the bearing. If he tried a different tire you can rule out imbalance, blown belt, or out of round tire. Drum could cause that problem at speed. Only thing left is axle shaft
