Shifter gate and range plate? Happen to have a pic?
https://i.imgur.com/819UWl.jpg a huge pic of my jeeps 231 shifter. I really need to clean the console it seems.

The gate/range plate is part of the shifter itself. Pull the plastic cover and you should be able to see it. The underside linkage itself is too long and will need replaced. I suggest talking to jimmy and doing the linkage mod.

Since you've shifted it by hand without any linkage hooked up and got nothing it sounds like something inside the box might be bad.

X2 we knew it was In 2wd after the burnout, so it has to be a bad case.

The cops found him broke down on the side of the road I had been working on replacing the radiator hoses and not tightened one all the way down so he ran it out of fluid and broke down.
