So now that I think about it, the guy said the the transmission was slipping out of gear, so he pulled the engine/trans/tcase and swapped it with an engine/trans/tcase out of an 89.

What would cause the transfer case to slip?

Jake, you already cracked open your old tc, why not just take the thrush washer and anything else you need out of the other one, and put them in yours?

Its to lock the front axle on vacuum disconnect axles.
