I dont know what shop would patch or plug the sidewall for you... a lot of shops wont even touch it. Liability.

probably wouldn't have a shop do it, or my uncles shop (which is where we bought the tires, and will probably get the new one from) so there won't be liability with them I guess. having that as a spare would be better then the tiny *** rubber donut. especially out on the trail.

Patching a sidewall is a terrible idea. But if its a temp trail spare I dont see a problem. I had a side wall gash I stuffed with 4 plugs and drove on it for a month. It was scary but it was that or walk.

You'll be fine just stuffing a couple of plugs in it and use for a TRAIL spare only. Dont drive on the road or highway with it but it'll be good enough to get you off the trail
