Seriously? Dude your serpentine belt was just slipping on the pulley from the water. Your alternator is probably fine

the engine skid plate on my blue xj keeps the splash guard nice, and whenever I go through water in it helps a lot. I'm comparing this to my white XJ that does not have a splash guard at all and I can feel the power steering weaken after going through water, so I would make something similar to the factory skid plate with the same mounting locations.
