I feel her pain....3 days....in the 30's at night, no food, water, power for heat. No radio or TV to know what's going on. Not everyone handles the stress the same....but I can see why she would be frightened.

Least self reliant....what is she supposed to do? Have you SEEN what is going on on Staten Island?

Sorry Justin....seems a little heartless. I sit around feeling bad i can't help.

Its fairly straight forward, buy bulk wire, buy some nice copper ends, take off the OEM wires and cut the new wire to the same basic length. I made my wires a little longer then OEM so I could have a little slack.

It's not about what happened, because that certainly is a big deal. It's getting to the point that if people aren't spoon fed instructions or "protection" they will never survive on their own. What ever you do, don't prepare, don't do what it takes. Someone else will carry the weight and do it for you. Oh and don't forget, there are no consequences for your choices, so be sure to demand others to make up for it.

The rest of the country is laughing hysterically at people like this. Look at the devastation from Katrina compared to Sandy... also some responsibility needs to be taken by people themselves. If you decide to stay to weather the storm you CANNOT expect others to risk their lives to come and rescue you nor the government to come and take care of your ***. I am no prepper by any means but I do have a bug out bag/self-reliance bag.

She says it herself, "this is New York City", like she is entitled.
Maybe not her specifically, but others like her, are ones that laughed at Katrina and southerners, who actually did lose everything.

Most of the world is not prepared for the 100 year storm. I'm not.

Not saying people need to rely on the government for everything either...and normally this woman probably does not. Staten Island is known as a low crime, hard working, blue collar neighborhood.

But in the extreme...we pull together and help out.

And Alex...for SOME people, it is just as bad as Katrina...if you are in Hoboken, Staten Island, numerous other places....it does not matter the scale of devastation if where YOU are is devastated.

If where you are RIGHT NOW is under 5 feet of water, no power, no food, no shelter, no heat....AND it's 35 degrees at night....is it any different or easier than being in the 9th ward after Katrina?

Just sayin...maybe too soon to poke fun at people....or maybe you are just unaware of the scale of the damage....but this is a bad situation on the verge of getting worse.

She asked Obama for help, I am just so sick and tired or everyone expecting handouts. Take responsibility for your actions. You make a mess, clean it yourself don't always expect help.

I see it as here saying "This is New York City" like as in, the hub of civilization...and it should not be like this...not as a matter of entitlement.

And if people are laughing at them....then THEY suck, not the people being laughed at.

Do something to help yourself. Life isn't a handout.
I'm not prepared for a 100 year storm to hit my house, but if it did, I wouldn't just sit inside and wait.
