My hinges are starting to rip off. Because I got rid of the check arms, easy to weld though.

It doesn't carry the vertical load, the hinges do. It limits the door's outward travel and it props the door open when you need it to stay there. It kinda hurts when that door swings closed on my leg lol.

I understand that, but I don't see how removing the check arm could cause the hinges to come off, as was stated.

When you dont have check arms, you dont damage the hinge, you damage where the hinge mounts to the body. When the hinge hits its built in stop, the momentum of the door causes the metal and the weld at the base to flex, hence the damage.
