Replace it.
Could be a 'dead spot' internally and when it stopped it landed there.
I had one go bad on me, tried what you did and NO JOY.
Pushed the vehicle to pop the clutch and got it started.
Got home and starter started right up.
Next day in front of auto parts store ... NO JOY.
Pulled it off and had them test it ... it worked.
Then the guy slowly spun it around and at one point it failed.
Put in a new one and never had the problem after that.

My starter is comming off tomorrow, I'm gonna give it and the mounting surface a good cleaning. If it still twitchy, its getting replaced, Love that advanced auto lifetime waranty.

I just sat in a parking lot for 20 minutes beating on my starter. It must be bad starter season. Crazy. I'm good now though.

it's gonna get replaced and the sooner the better, no need for mana to get stranded..
and sorry for the bad starter voodoo, just need one more for it to pass..
