Gotta do some stuff to my jeep on Saturday morning. New cat, rtv my cowl snorkel again, and attempt to see what exactly is happening in my steering. Maybe a new cap and rotor too. Kuzican is already coming, anyone else can too.

Got hit from behind yesterday, while sitting at a red light by some kid who said .....

I was car #3 in line at a red light with wife and son in the car when BAM ..... something hit us.

The tool was merging from the right lane into our lane when he hit us. He was accelerating through a merge paying attention to the cars he was cutting off instead of the cars in front of him at the RED LIGHT !!!!

I'm assuming everyone is alright since you are posting....that's the important part.

That doesn't seem like very much for the damages. You couldn't get all of those parts and have the paint blended at a body shop for that. Post up some pics.

I have a friend that's going to be looking for some ZJ parts soon. girl I work with just got one and it has some things that need fixing.

What year and do they have a list of what is needed?

I know where a 1998 ZJ is that I can get for less than $1,000

If it was black I would have it already .... but then I would have to do some paint work.

I'm holding out to find a black one at a JY so color is matched.

We all had very slight neck pain, were checked out by our physician and all are good.



Well I added the Rear Hatch - the estimator wrote it up as a repair item.

$1600 is sufficient when you remove that hatch from the 'replace' list.

From Crazy Ray's ....

Rear Bumper = $40 - $50 ( includes mounts/inner bumper/bumper cover )
Hatch = ???

I have a line on two JY's that have or had black 97 and 98 ZJ's so if that pans out color match is already done.


Another option I was considering is an aftermarket all steel bumper - $600 - $900 ... just leaves the rear hatch to be dealt with.

Rear hatch has some rust and it was on my list of things to replace when I got around to it.

Damage to hatch is minor - lower edge bent in slightly.

I'll do all the work myself, if there is any paint work to be done I'll have a friend help me out on that.


PICS? Well I took some but seeing as how it is black it doesn't show the damage well.

I can describe it though ....
1) Lower edge of rear hatch bent in.
2) Bumper Cover - torn at one place, paint cracked all over top surface.
3) Inner Steel Bumper - pushed in about 3/4" on driver side - pushed in about 3" on driver side
4) Steel Bumper Mounts - buckled both sides.

I think the Trailer Hitch saved me from more damage.
