Got my 3" Zone leaf springs today delivered by OOPs and to me they look pretty chewed up. I use to work at the hub that they came through and I know how carelessly they handle things, especially what they call Oversize.
I am not coming on to complain [unless I have a right to], just asking if this delivery condition is normal.
Next question is what paint would you recommend to seal. I do realize it will get banged and skuffed under the truck, just concerned about sealing from rust early on.

I use Rustoleum Professional (the tall silverish cans) on almost everything. Holds up really well and sprays really nice and even. I'd scuff up around the flaked areas with some steel wool first though.

Phil,
I sent the permalink to Zone rep and he is running it up the ladder. The statement that it is flaking appears to be true to quite some degree. I believe that is what Zone is going to address further up the foood chain. If not in your case at least for future issue resolution. I agree with the Rustoleum Pro. If you can hold of until tomorrow, I will see what info they come back with. I do not have a clue what that means they will do, if anything, but my rep is going to ask just the same. They are pretty responsive to issues like this.
Namaste,
Allen

Thanks for the replies. I haven't done any of this stuff before so I just didn't know if that is what to expect or not. Thanks Allen for the response and PM and thanks Dukie and LittleBuddy for the advice on the painting.

you don't need a press tho. I've done a couple sets by getting it started with a hammer, then turning the whole spring over so the bushing is pointed down and smacking it on a concrete floor till it's in all the way

Landlord says I can use the top end of the paved driveway but I don't want to take up his spots all day [even if I could get it done in a day with all manual tools].
I don't have much ability but figured I could muddle through which is why I ordered it. The PO screwed so many things up on this truck that I am just hoping there are no surprises or extras to deal with. Feel like I could figure it out but the thought makes me semi-nausious 'cause I know leaf spring bolts suck to remove. I got no cutter to hack them off should I need to.
Thanks to Rocky I got new bolts to put on though!
Timing kindof sucks to do before Christmas but I also do not want to be out in the snow if weather goes bad.
Long ranting answer...short version -dunno?
Truthfully could use any help anyone wants to give...I'll travel!

people are going crazy. today someone dropped a loaded mag from a springfield armory pistol in .40 S&W in the parking lot of the grocery store I work at. cops came to pick it up, and I think they checked the video too.
