espn just told me that xavier university's basketball team wore jerseys that said "sandy hook" on them. to honor...well, you know the rest.
who wore jerseys for all of the children that catholic priests raped? (xavier is a catholic school). who wears jerseys for afghan children that die in drone strikes? we call it collateral damage. i don't have the stats at my finger tips (actually, i do, but i'm lazy). more than 20 have spontaneously combusted for no good reason other than having been born in the wrong place at the wrong time. they had no choice, and if you were born into similar circumstances, you would hate people that drop bombs on you too. if you lived long enough to be mad about it.
it is us against them. but not really. we all just want to squeeze as much joy as we can out of this confusing existence. we are the same, most of us.
their boss says that we suck. our boss says that they suck. from both sides we, for the most part, support the boss and hate each other.
it sucks that sandy hook happened. but it did. tomorrow, far more than 20-some children will die...it just happens. but when it happens all at once in the same place, all of a sudden...it's something to get behind. something to stand for. like breast cancer, and the pink ribbons, but more urgent.
i'm thisclose to taking the few resources i have, a one way flight to south korea, and never looking back. it's an emerging market. despite all of the b.s. your television feeds you, they don't need us (other nations). they don't live as comfortable, but they live. they also won't arrest you for an open container. it's not a big deal.
as far as i can tell, the east and the west both have good and bad. somehow the worst of both worlds ended up in the middle east. and then some suit in washington figured he ought to fix it. he never will, but in this moment, the east is winning, and that makes him mad as fuq. the middle east is doing what it has always done, with little regard for the opinion of outsiders. they will continue to do that no matter how many fluff pieces the msm runs. conversely, they will continue to do what they do (whatever that is), no matter how many hit pieces the msm runs. academics will write you a thesis on the region. the region will club academics when they show up. it seems the academics should find better places to backpack. they won't.
on the other hand, i want to stay and fight for the constitution, which doesn't mean much of anyting to those in power...not anymore. sometimes i think we have a fighting chance with our regulated firearms. other times i think that people will lay them down at the command of the state.
in the meantime...i'll drink and camp and drive a jeep into the mountains and not worry too much about "where does that road go"...all w/in reason.
