ripped off the old fabric and then covered it with liquid cement (i think thats what its called) let it sit with that on it for alittle to harden it some from pulling most the foam off and then put another coat of that on, sprey on headliner glue and then started putting the fabric on.

True dont use bondo if its that big, since mine was only a few small spots it worked fine with the welds and filler i used... Most likely only works for that type of application.
my xj didnt come with any headliner so i pulled the board and put the black headliner foam on. No fabric but it looks good. Maybe one day ill put some fabric on but it isnt a necessity. Id also put the extra sheets of heat/sound insulation i have on the roof just to do it since i put it on my whole floor when i replaced the carpet... Eastwood brand stuff fyi
